On October 2019, Lawson Wherry, a Memphis native, passed away from a sudden cardiac arrest (SCA). He was a healthy and active young adult who showed no signs of heart problems. He is remembered as a loving, kind, immensely talented, and adventurous son, brother, and friend. Wanting his legacy to continue, his family joined the effort to bring Project ADAM (Automated Defibrillators in Adam’s Memory) to the mid-south by creating “Lawson’s Legacy” through Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital. Project ADAM: Lawson’s Legacy provides free SCA education and planning assistance to West TN schools. Having a cardiac emergency action plan may save the life of a student, staff member, parent, or visitor who may experience a sudden cardiac arrest.
